Capital of culture
A good reason why the Maastricht Region has put itself forward as a candidate for the European Capital of Culture in 2018: it is uniquely positioned at the crossroads of the Latin and Germanic cultures and features a wide variety of artistic and cultural venues and programs. The region’s cultural platform consists of 15 museums, 17 concert halls, 14 theaters, 3 art cinemas and many smaller performing arts centers, art galleries and collections.
