A simple fact says it all: eight Michelin stars have been awarded in a region no larger than 20 x 20 kilometers. Maastricht is the Culinary Capital of the Netherlands, but countless bistros, cafes, lounges and other small restaurants in the region live up to every taste and budget.
Visitors are not only attracted by the gastronomic excellence, but they also love the boutiques in the old city center of Maastricht in combination with opportunities to enjoy art, cultural events and the beautiful outdoors in the entire region. The Maastricht Region is famous for its joie de vivre. And it is proud of its rich tradition of local and regional products, for example Livar pork, spelt bread and quality wine. Hip hotels, cosy B&B's and romantic places in the countryside, make the region a good place for friends and family to visit or spend a holiday with or without the kids.
